This reminded me of how awful Shion Uzuki in Xenosaga got treated and why it may have been a reason we haven’t gotten a complex female protagonist in Xenoblade since Takahashi felt he had to make the protagonists likeable starting with Xenoblade. It’s gotten “better” with time.
