Ahhh, peat! Just the ticket for [checks notes] the hottest night of the year so far… 🤣🤷‍♂️🥃 I don’t care, though, because it’s ruddy tasty. Smoked meats, cola, balsamic-macerated tropical fruit. Belting.

Can never get enough of this from Innis & Gunn; the richness and complexity of beers thrice the price… Chocolate, butter, toffee, vanilla, coconut. Sweet dark rum, rum cake, toasted sugar, boozy raisins, light oak. Balancing, savoury malt; brown bread. Lightly creamy. Lush!

You can’t call something “cream stout” and expect me not to buy it, can you?! Very tasty stuff from St. Peter's Brewery; plenty of dark chocolate, coffee, pumpernickel, liquorice, vanilla, dark malt, oak, earthiness…and, errr, creaminess. Loving the flask-style bottle, too.

Very enjoyable from Little Ox Brew Co. More of a pale ale than a bitter - coniferous hops dominate the subtle underlying caramels - but clean, fresh, and huge flavour for such a low ABV.

A nice, clean, solid NEIPA from Little Ox Brew Co. Nothing too radical, but resinous + fruity (pine + pineapple!), crisp, and bitter, with a pleasant hit of balancing malty sweetness.

Returning to this straightforward-but-delicious Talisker for ex-bourbon sweetness and a light touch of sweet peat to finish off the weekend… (The wine cask influence is (very) modest here. A spicy tannin or two around the edges, but creamy vanilla’s leading the show…)
