In port Sudan, I had fruitful exchange with Mr. Osman Hussein, Sec. Gen. of Sudan’s Council of Ministers, and Amb. Hussain El Amin of وزارة خارجية جمهورية السودان 🇸🇩. IOM’s partnership with Sudan is vital. Since April 2023, we’ve reached 3.3M+ people and we’re scaling up for recovery & development

My meeting with the Director of the Secretariat of Sudanese Working Abroad was also key in guiding IOM’s support for the Sudanese diaspora — our long-term partners in recovery and development.     Boosting diaspora contributions remains a key IOM priority.

I was glad to also meet with the Heads of UN Agencies and key humanitarian partners in Sudan, where over two-thirds of the population urgently need support.    The int’ community must step up efforts, strengthen our collective response, and deliver for those most in need.

Pleased to hold a productive meeting with Sudan's Minister of Interior, H.E. Lt. Gen. Babiker Samra. We discussed how to strengthen our collaboration, support border points and better support the people returning to Sudan.

I visited IOM’s Water Trucking Project at Sharg En Nile State. This project, part of the Rapid Response Fund, is a lifeline that provides safe&clean drinking water, supporting hygiene, and helping to protect more than 15,000 vulnerable families from the ongoing cholera outbreak.

In hard-to-reach areas, mobile clinics are a lifeline, bringing essential care to migrants and host communities. I'm proud to visit one of nine clinics run by IOM and partners in Sudan, ensuring quality healthcare for those who may otherwise not have access.

As conflict rages on, over a million displaced people are returning home to #Sudan. They’re returning to widespread devastation and a lack of services. Sudan’s future hinges on urgent support, lasting peace, and the resilience of its people. iom.int/ZfP

"We need to support people who can return to areas where we have relative safety and people are asking us for the support." As displaced Sudanese return home, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, @UNMigration and UN Development stress more funding is needed to cover their basic needs. buff.ly/91uXwuM
