At first I was afraid, I was petrified.
Then I popped the kettle on and had a nice cuppa. 🟢⚪🟣

This is the book about the Sturgeon era that the National Library of Scotland doesn't want you to find in its centenary exhibition and the Edinburgh International Book Festival doesn't want you to hear discussed. Some shops don't want you to find it. 1/2 tinyurl.com/387hxadt

What surprises me most about the National Library's response to The Women Who Wouldn't Wheesht is not that the National Librarian Amina Shah decided to cave into pressure from her LGBT+ staff, but that she didn't seem to understand the import of her decision. It's the national

Christina Wrong. It’s supposed to be available as an e-book but due to IT snags it’s not available. Someone had to rush out to buy it. Yesterday. It’s not catalogued yet 👇 so not available. When it finally is you’ll need a reader’s ticket to sit it in the reading room to read it.

The National This isn’t fact checking: this is wilfully ignoring publicly available facts. It’s certainly not journalism. The published email chain released by the library clearly shows the book was selected for the exhibition and then removed following protests from the staff LGBT network.

I both feel very sorry for National Librarian Amina Shah - whose appointment I very much welcomed - and hugely disappointed in her. This is one of those rare occasions when there is an official paper-trail that evidences discrimination and caving to ideological activists./2

As a member of WRN Derbyshire & Staffordshire I went to York to check out the M&S changing rooms. Not one in the shop is female only, all changing rooms including the one in the bra fitting area are unisex as confirmed by the manager! Why do M&S not care about women and girls?

Hmm. Since I went public by 'politely withdrawing' my book, Old Baggage, from the 2020 Women's Prize, I've not received a single short- or long-listing for any prize, adult or children, & had no invitations to major festivals. So I spose it depends how you define 'cancellation'.
