Our Outdoor Adventure Club headed to Mississippi for an incredible weekend adventure Gulf Islands NS: flic.kr/s/aHBqjzM8au. They camped overnight, completed a service project, went crabbing, learned about the ecology of the area, went stargazing, and relaxed at the beach.

The first week of Camp LOOP Garou is almost over. Before the month ends, 60 campers will explore their wild sides through canoeing, high ropes challenges, wilderness skills, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor adventures. They’ll also make lasting memories and meet new friends!

The first week of Camp LOOP Garou is in the books: flic.kr/s/aHBqjzTK62. Wilderness skills and fires were built, canoes were paddle, high ropes challenges were conquered, and a ton of smiles were inspired.

“This has been one the best, most memorable days of my life.” You never forget your first fish! The Outdoor Adventure Club had an amazing day on the water with Salty Dog Charters yesterday. They came back with a new perspective on our coast and really good fishing stories!

Four questions if you want to communicate to inspire: What do you want them to see? What do you want them to know? What do you want them to feel? What do you want them to do? Every time we communicate, our goal and mission is to inspire others to reach their full potential!

Spending time outdoors isn't a cure-all for mental health, but it can certainly help. 🌳 theatlantic.com/family/archive…

"It is not the technology itself that should concern us. It is how we use that technology, in balance with the rest of our lives." In the age of screens, kids need to learn how to find that balance. theatlantic.com/technology/arc…

We know that folks will keep playing on their phones in there outdoors, so let's frame it well. "If you’re willing to accept that social media can promote bad behavior, how about also accepting that it can encourage good behavior, too?" modernhiker.com/3-easy-guideli…

I certainly hope we'll be doing what we do for the next five years! Even longer than that actually. More people enjoying the outdoors. More kids trying something new and having fun. More families spending time together, making memories. We're here for it <3

A common source of disappointment is recency bias: weighing the last week more heavily than the last year. Zooming in on the immediate past magnifies slumps. Zooming out farther reveals upward slopes. Progress is rarely visible at a snapshot in time. It unfolds over a lifetime.

"The thing I would hate to have happen is for people to pit medication against the mindfulness-based resources," Harden Bradford cautions. Wouldn't it be great if more people with anxiety got BOTH the medical treatment needed & mindfulness opportunities? npr.org/sections/healt…
