🚨At #CovidInquiry #LongCovid is spotlighted by many, including by the BMA: “In the words of a Resident Doctor: I caught #Covid in March 2020… These were supposed to be the best years of my life but I’m spending them alone, in bed, feeling like I’m dying almost all the time”

The disastrous IPC policy being quite rightly called out here. ‘Lives could have been saved’. In 2024, we *still* don’t have an NHS IPC policy mandating FFP3 masks when nursing COVID positive patients. Still surgical masks. Still inadequate. Still putting staff at risk.

💔 At #CovidInquiry John Sullivan describes what he went through when daughter Susan, who had Down Syndrome, died in hospital with #COVID19. Heartbreaking but powerful testimony: “I just hope when the next pandemic comes along disabled people are treated with a bit more respect”

Sadly, I look after too many now bedbound Doctors. Talented individuals in the prime of their lives, cut down by long Covid, days spent alone& feeling like they are dying, careers gone Now ignored by society. Any is too many when FFP3&ventilation exist ‘We knew it was unsafe’

The PANORAMIC results show those treated with the antiviral Molnupiravir in acute #Covid were less likely to have #LongCovid at 3 & 6 months However despite growing evidence viral persistence may cause #LongCovid we still lack clinical trials Ziyad Al-Aly, MD thelancet.com/journals/lanin…
