After four years of #LongCovid recovery it seems I may have developed a sudden onset autoimmune condition, almost overnight. Being a doctor isn’t helping me be a patient. I am sad and worried. I was doing so well.

Feel like fucking Neo in the Matrix trying to avoid all the you-know-what in the ED at the moment before I go on annual leave next week. Seeing patients now with the second infection this year, which means Flirt is likely here. Desperately ready for a break.

It will be fascinating to see if A) Anyone actually ultimate looks at covid infections at the #Olympics (many teams tested) B) Anyone correlates that to performances (lots of anecdotal reports of “didn’t feel great” or mystery virus) C) Anyone looks at Paxlovid use by athletes

She leaves as quick as she arrives. I don’t think I’ve admitted a Covid patient from ED in about fortnight, which is refreshing. Still plenty of other lurgies about though. The next wave will be along soon I’m sure, but for now, just, ah. 😌

Parents both positive in the UK, XEC seems to be taking off there. Dad was sick for 2 days before Mum returned from a trip. He didn’t tell her. She made him test the minute she got home, instant positive. They isolated but it was too late, she’s positive & unwell now 3 days later

After 18 months I finally got through the maze of obstacles put in my way by NSW Health to withhold the number of people catching COVID in hospital. I expect the same would apply for many airborne diseases although at the moment COVID is the most prevalent. See my next tweet

We are not documenting crowding in individual patient notes. Makes it difficult to give context around delayed care for coroner, solicitor etc Do you document crowding in clinical notes? If so what phrases do you use?

Here we go again. "Immunity debt". We are the most stupid fucking species. I won't say I've given up entirely fighting this, but I have developed a much better understanding of the flows and manipulations of disinformation.

The last 2-3 months I’ve hardly seen any cases through ED. I took this low time to travel & have some fun. This week there seems to be quite a few cases coming in. Aged care, cruise ships & returned travellers mostly (quelle surprise). Start of the next wave in Aus, I presume.
