Deeply concerned to see Harbour Energy announce job losses & review its support for CCS, due to the UK Gov’s “ongoing punitive fiscal position” & “repeated delays to the Gov’s Track 2 process.” Tories & Labour have raided Scotland’s energy revenues & failed to support Acorn.

Harbour Energy’s decision to cut 250 jobs because of the Labour UK Government’s ‘ongoing punitive fiscal position’ is a hammer blow for Aberdeen. I asked the Deputy First Minister to get her UK counterparts to change their stance on the Energy Profit Levy to save jobs.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham today: "Unite fears that the scale of the job losses in the years to come will run in to the tens of thousands unless the UK government changes direction and produces a concrete plan with real jobs for the transition of North Sea workers."
