For the past several months, we had the privilege of hosting the fabulous Vinicius Loti de Lima as a postdoc. Now he will start a new chapter in his life, and I am sure he will continue to make us proud. Vinicius, you left a mark in our hearts, and you will be greatly missed.

Extremely happy to reunite with my first generation of research students from UFPB 🤩! I can't thank them enough, not only for their brilliant work but also for their invaluable and loyal friendship. It’s not an overstatement to say they’ve become like a second family to me ❤️.

Last week, we were happy to welcome Brian Mao and Ethan Wang from InfinityQ (infinityQ Technology, Inc.) to LASER-UFPB! They presented a great seminar to our team, and our students also had the opportunity to share a bit of their research with them.

Our article "Computing the worst-case due dates violations with budget uncertainty", co-authored by Igor Malheiros (Igor Malheiros), Artur Pessoa, Michaël Poss, and Anand Subramanian, has just been published in OR Letters! Well done, Igor! We are really proud of your work! 😀

Thank you, Matheus J. Ota (Matheus Ota), for giving us a great introduction to Two-Stage Stochastic Programming! We learned a lot from you. Matheus is an extremely talented Brazilian PhD student at the University of Waterloo, working under the supervision of s.t. guest Ricardo Fukasawa!

On Monday, Vitor Nesello (Vitor Nesello), CTO of Atoptima (Atoptima), delivered a brilliant talk to our group! Vitor has been with us since he was 17 and is now a great inspiration to all of our students. Vitor, we were thrilled to have you at LASER-UFPB!

Yesterday, the wonderful students of our research group LOG UFPB surprised me for my 41st birthday at LASER-UFPB. I was really moved by this incredibly thoughtful gesture, and honestly, I couldn't ask for better company. What a dream team!

It was a true pleasure to host Prof. Greet Vanden Berghe from KU Leuven at LASER-UFPB for the past two weeks! She quickly connected with our team through exciting research discussions and social activities. She also presented an insightful talk on Personnel Rostering.

Yesterday, Lara Pontes delivered a brilliant presentation at the INFORMS Conference Undergraduate Student Research Prize finalist session. She did a great job presenting her work entitled "The Maximum Length Car Sequencing Problem" and we are very proud of her!
