Incident 34/2022:- 13/08/2022 Team paged with Port Talbot CRT to search Merthyr Mawr dunes for a casualty having a medical emergency. Search teams deployed into dunes but casualty quickly located and extracted by the coastguard helicopter from St Athan.

Incident 38/2022:- 22/08/2022 Team paged during training to search for a missing person at Ogmore By sea. Team stood down whilst packing equipment away. With no persons in danger we returned to our practice session in the deeps.

This week we were at Nash point practicing our rope rescue skills. We put in place an indirect setup which allows us to operate if space is limited on the cliff top.

We had are team Christmas meal early this year as December looks to be a busy month. As you can see some members put more effort than others into the Christmas hats!

Incident 47/2022:- 24/11/2022 Team paged to a car in river at Llantwit beach. Team assessed scene and provided safety cover while the car was being recovered.

Incident 48/2022- 27/11/2022 Team paged with Barry Coastguard to dog over the cliff at Southerndown. Teams use their rope rescue equipment to recover the dog back to the top of the cliff. In a coastal emergency dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.

Incident 01/2023:- 02/01/2023 Team paged to a dog believed to have gone over cliffs at West Farm. Access points checked by team whilst Porthcawl RNLI Lifeboat conducted a shoreline search. The coastguard helicopter who was training in the area also conducted a search of the area

Incident 04/2023:- 22/01/2023 Paged to assist Porthcawl Coastguard and port talbot CRT with a potential rope incident at Porthcawl. Porthcawl RNLI Lifeboat and fire service were on scene trying to free the dog from the rock armour. The dog was coaxed out by a police dog handler and the owner.

Over the past few weeks the team have been upskilling on the new Coastguard casualty care course. The team have learnt new skills which will help improve the way casualties are treated along the coast.

Incident 06/2023:- 31/01/2023 Team paged with Porthcawl and Port Talbot CRT to a medical emergency in Merthyr Mawr sand dunes. Casualty treated by Welsh HART team and evacuated from dunes by helicopter. Teams set up HLS and stretchered casualty to the waiting ambulance.

Incident 08/2023:- 23/02/2023 Paged with Barry Coastguard to 2 people stuck on cliffs near Southerndown. The teams located the climbers and then using our rope rescue equipment recovered them to the top of the cliffs. In a coastal emergency dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.

This weekend some of the team were at Ogmore as part of the area flood response team. The team worked through the afternoon and into the night practicing wading and rafting techniques to rescue different casualties.

Incident 13/2023:- 31/03/2023 Team paged to reports of a flare near Aberthaw power station. Shoreline search carried out by team whilst Barry Dock RNLI carried out their search plan. Remains of flare found by Power station security and believed to be fired from car park area.

Some of the team changed out of overalls and glammed up for the MEDSERVE Wales Dinner. Medserve are a charity that provide additional and enhanced care to casualties they are tasked to. With one of the team also volunteering for the charity, it’s one we are keen to support.

It's the sunshine we've been waiting for🥳 After a spell of wet weather the heat can cause some instability in cliff faces⛰️ Our officers were at Jacksons Bay today making sure the area is safe after a small rockfall. If you're heading to the coast please stay clear of cliffs.
