📉 NEWS: Scientists can use genetic 'weather forecasting' to assess how #BowelCancer tumours will evolve to evade treatment – and when drugs are likely to stop working. 💊 The technique could help doctors stay a step ahead of cancer. Read more 👉 icr.ac.uk/news-archive/s…

Our paper “Mutational signatures impact the evolution of anti-EGFR antibody resistance in colorectal cancer” is out in Nature Ecology and Evolution (nature.com/articles/s4155…). Thanks to Marco Gerlinger and team at The ICR & The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Nuria Lopez-Bigas, Oriol Pich. Tweetorial:

Our lab works on multiple aspects of gastrointestinal cancers! We work with patients on active clinical trials who very kindly donate samples so we can create patient organoids - essentially regrow the patient's tumour in a plate suspended in a 3D matrigel.Marco Gerlinger

After a few days in culture! These organoids require specialised media that closely replicate conditions inside the patient. They are fragile and require precise and prolonged care. They are closely monitored every 24 hours! These are not ready for a split just yet!

We have an exciting Science and Innovation at Cancer Research UK funded PhD studentship studying Acetyl-CoA metabolism in Small Cell Lung Cancer, hosted Barts Cancer Institute (Queen Mary) supported by a stellar group of collaborators. If you want to do a translational PhD in metabolism, this is the one for you findaphd.com/phds/project/u…

🔥🔥🔥We have two exciting post-doc positions in cancer immunotherapy!! Unravelling T cell antigens using PDOs, immuno-peptidomics and functional T cell assays. Focus on gastro-oesophageal cancer qmul.ac.uk/jobs/vacancies… and colorectal cancer qmul.ac.uk/jobs/vacancies…

As part of our recent CRUK CEA funding, we have a postdoc position in our lab for 3 years. It will investigate how CREBBP loss drives altered metabolism, and how this dictates disease trajectory and treatment response in SCLCs. qmul.ac.uk/jobs/vacancies…

ctDNA MRD detection is incredibly powerful in early-stage OG adenocarcinoma based on our ICONIC Ph2 trial (periop FLOT+PDL1) presented today at #AACR2023. Better than nodal status and TRG in multivariate. Can‘t wait to use in more trials and the clinic. Barts Cancer Inst. The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust
