We don’t have accurate information about the size of the LGBT population at a national and local level. We can change that with the #Census2021 in England and Wales on March 21! For the first time ever, LGBT people can be #ProudToBeCounted 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧

Like all violence against women, this was not inevitable. The Met and the London Mayor could have worked with women on the ground to support a Covid safe vigil. Instead they are bringing more violence #ReclaimTheseStreets

I've been a journalist for too long, but this is definitely up there with the most patronising phrases I've ever read in an official report: “the well-meaning idealism of many young people who claim the country is still institutionally racist is not borne out by the evidence”.

Just when you think the absurdity of victim blaming could not possibly go any further, here is a Police Commissioner openly blaming Sarah Everard for what happened to her on BBC radio bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan… #FixTheSystemNotTheWomen

You know that Downing Street Xmas party that the government party denies ever happened, well ITV News has exclusive footage of a mock Downing St press conference four days after in which head of broadcast Ed Oldfield and @AllegraCOP26 joke about it. itv.com/news/2021-12-0…

A reminder of when Boris Johnson said he was "furious" to see footage of staff joking about holding parties in Downing Street. All the while he knew he had attended multiple such parties himself.

I wanted to have a look at 'deaths of despair' for the US in the first year of the pandemic. Almost the entire country saw a *big* jump in drug deaths, a smaller, but still pretty big jump in alcohol deaths and relatively little variation in suicide deaths.

Still blows my mind that rather than spend summer insulating homes, fast tracking wind farms, incentivising public transport & pushing a national energy saving awareness campaign, we are sitting here waiting to see who Tories elect to oversee a mass rise in poverty this winter.
