Colleagues will die from this decision.

Where are you NHS England? I’m told behind the scenes that you are listening. That you do care. That you are doing everything you can.

There will be a body count with this decision. How do you sleep at night?

On the day I spoke to @timesradio about why Drs leave the NHS....this pretty much sums it up. 👇
The utter contempt for people who go above & beyond for their patients is unbelievable

John Major (June 2016) was spot on when he said:-

“The NHS is about as safe with them (Conservatives) as a pet hamster would be with a hungry python”

It was bad then just look at the state of the NHS today

No one else to blame but the Conservatives

In need of a good read for your train journey?

Head into Hatchards (Hatchards St Pancras) and pick up a copy of the vital and incredibly topical 'Why Can't I See My GP?' by Dr Ellen Welch (@wanderingwelch) 📚

RJH Phil Whitaker Completely bizarre state of affairs to have the most efficient and effective part of the NHS - General Practice - being deliberately run in to the ground while secondary care is bailed out repeatedly from its overcomplexity & general inability to ‘get on with treating patients’?

Cutting funding for Sure Start is probably one of the worst things the Tories have done over the past 14 years. bbc.co.uk/news/education…

I’m a former hospital consultant but one thing I’ve never understood is why GP is funded so poorly. With the UK model of healthcare well functioning primary care is absolutely essential & extremely efficient & means the rest of the system has a chance of working well for pts.

General practice is so important that all major parties have it high up on their agendas....yet literally no one wants to actually fund it properly.

And yet we cannot even contemplate uplifts in line with inflation.

Today I feel yet again completely undervalued and ignored.

NHSE lobbying against GP funding increase to DDRB
20% £/patient cut in real terms funding since 2016
2% cut this year
Funding roles other than GPs (ARRS) whilst cutting funding to practices so they can’t employ GPs

A&E rising demand isn't driving long waits in A&E. Attendance rates are not dramatically up from pre-pandemic levels. The real issue is collapse of social/community care provision & some increased acuity. This is driving longer stays & means fewer open beds for ppl to go into

It's the thing about underfunding, you provide less, patients less happy, and what's worse some of them seem to die prematurely.
That's always gonna be a tricky one to spin.

📢Empty GP surgeries do not equal lazy GPs!

🩺For daily stats on what GPs actually do pls see Steve Taylor

🩺Read Dr Ellen Welch ‘s book

Talk TO your own GP about this and ask your MP to prioritise General Practice

The House of Lords needs reform....oh yes....more than ever.

Follow Transparency International UK who've found that 1/4 of all party nominations since 2013 were for political donors who'd handed over £58 million indonations.

We need an absolute overhaul in both House of Commons and Lords 😡

It is concerning that political parties are quoting inaccurate & misleading figures about GPs
Although it is difficult to get to see a GP
4m more people were seen on the day compared to 2019 compared to the 400k (79% increase) booked in a month
Truth & trust is needed in politics

250 excess deaths a week (just in a&e nevermind the rest of the NHS).

TRANSLATION = we cannot guarantee lifesaving care in an emergency.

As a GP, Mum and just a person with a family, that makes me feel a bit sick.

It amazes me how much money, effort and ingenuity goes into trying to mimic what GPs do. Alternatively you could just give the funding to Practices and cut out the middleman….. radical 🤷‍♂️
