Michael Strong Socratic Experience There is a deep disconnect between parents and educators. Both point fingers at each other for all ails of society. The boys on my son’s freshman football team were all talking about Charlie Kirk. 14 year olds are now bingeing his videos to see why he deserved to be assassinated. Turning Point indeed.

Social media is the town square. X allows a report for dehumanization. Time to shun indecent ppl from polite society. Laws aren’t going to fix this.

My 14 yo son is organizing lawn mowing and meals for our neighbor who is battling cancer and whose son got in a motorcycle accident. He works with 3 other ym to lead their age group at church. Leadership skills must be taught explicitly. This is for Charlie.

Eight YM made 6 freezer meals tonight at our house for our neighbors who are suffering from cancer, a motorcycle accident, and other health problems. They laughed and talked with a recently returned missionary. YM need mentors and purpose. For Charlie.

My son started football this year as a freshman. I found an All-State lineman alumni to teach him fundamentals that his coaches don’t have time to address. Some ppl pay for Netflix, fancy phones, endless plastic junk from Amazon. I pay for mentorship for my son. For Charlie.

This is an example of why I am not upset about the Dept of Education cutting funding in research. Too many “experts” have lost the trust of parents by not keeping reading, writing, and math at the forefront of education priorities.

An unexpected benefit of socratic is that my son is stumbling through and learning to "adult". No one is forcing him to do anything. He is learning to manage a routine and calendar so that he gets the most of his educational opportunity rather than keeping his grades up.
