Sometimes, when I’m feeling like my research doesn’t matter, I read my spam emails. In my spam emails, I am “prominent” and “eminent.” My submissions are urgently needed. I am invited to serve as a keynote speaker at conferences in fields like plant ecology and marine biology.

Really cool to check out, shows how valuable looking beyond our own field can be.

Don’t get used to it pal

Got seriously ill in high school, and due to the illness being uncommon teachers assumed I was trying to get out of coursework. Told not to come to school. Completed two master’s degrees and a bachelor’s degree in a completely different field in 6 years, now working on my PhD.

Ernstig dat de website van de Belastingdienst zo slecht in elkaar zit dat je er met een wetenschappelijke opleiding nog steeds niet wijs uit wordt. “Lees handleiding X” op de website belastingdienst.nl. Zoek “handleiding X”, staat nergens. Heel NL moet dit gebruiken. Hoe?

En als je je vraag dan telefonisch wil stellen (zeer begrijpelijk met zo’n site)? Wachttijd van 20 tot 30 minuten. Hou op schei uit.
