Little Ecologist Amazing where it grows 😍

The painted lady amazes me, how does a creature so small and delicate manage such a great migration. Travelling from North Africa, the Middle East, and central Asia, recolonising mainland Europe and coming to Britain! Wow 🤩. I saw lots on the bountiful cliffs of Cornwall.

Little Ecologist Same for me when we were down in Cornwall recently, saw so many, I stared at them and thought how, how do you do it?! One of my favourites so seeing them in numbers was lovely. Yet to see one here in Oxfordshire this year.

Yay! New Purple Emperor pupa found at 11pm last night, by UV torchlight (the pupating larvae & pupae flouresce strongly). 7m up in sallow canopy, photoed at 10m. Vaguely near Daneway Banks, Glos.
