It's fascinating to see #Loaded's Ari come to life on stage Malthouse Theatre, even if he sits uncomfortably in contemporary clothes. Some thrilling stuff, though and worth seeing. theguardian.com/stage/2023/may…

★★★★☆ 'A freewheeling, caustic monologue performed with feverish intensity by the spellbinding Danny Ball.' Loaded will run at Malthouse Theatre until 3 June 2023: #loaded #malthousetheatre #review #theatre #christotsiolkas bit.ly/3Mquslr

'It may be easy to forget, but 1995 is as far away from us in time as 1967 was from Loaded’s publication.' Ben Brooker reviews 'Loaded' | Malthouse Theatre Little Ones Theatre @BenMBrooker australianbookreview.com.au/arts-update/10…

Pls everyone see Loaded Malthouse Theatre. Took dad along, he doesn’t really like plays + thought we were seeing Judith Lucy for some reason? But came out raving. “It was interesting to learn about a lifestyle so foreign to me.” And that’s how I learnt my dad’s not a young gay man.

Loaded is a stunning work in its own right. It can’t match the reckless velocity & momentum of Head On, but it has a luscious sensuality & easy physical immediacy that neither the original prose nor Kokkinos’s movie can offer Malthouse Theatre My review [$] patreon.com/posts/83349230

Since Christos Tsiolkas’ Loaded was published in 1995, the way Australians see race and sexuality has changed. Shifting the setting to the present day doesn’t weaken the narrative, but it does complicate it, writes Jinghua Qian. satpa.pe/bF5oupa

Danny Ball’s magnetic solo performance is a joy to watch in its physicality, charisma and control, writes Jinghua Qian. satpa.pe/z7K5TQO

.Jinghua Qian reviews the new stage adaptation of Christos Tsiolkas’ Loaded at Malthouse Theatre. satpa.pe/xXhNwgy

The Malthouse Theatre’s staging of Christos Tsiolkas’ Loaded embodies a second-generation identity crisis, writes Jinghua Qian. How can a transplant respect its roots while staying nimble in a new time and place? satpa.pe/teG4Oo9

The long-awaited stage adaptation of Christos Tsiolkas’ Loaded at the Malthouse Theatre updates the story for a new audience while juicing generative tension out of anachronism, writes Jinghua Qian. satpa.pe/LGZxaDV

“There’s an intelligence to pop culture and pop music that a lot of people don’t credit. That was the first time I’d seen those genres and styles on a stage: the vaudeville, Marlene Dietrich, Carmen Miranda.” Little Ones Theatre' Stephen Nicolazzo on Madonna. satpa.pe/69GRqI5
