Striking portrait of a First World War land girl by an artist I’ve not come across before - Albert Chevallier Tayler (d 1925). It’s a book cover waiting to happen..

I saw & smelled this rose in a garden last year, and immediately came home & ordered it, stuck it in a pot and kaboom! It's probably not to everyone's taste, but I adore it - it's called Ferdinand Pichard, though I think of it as Molten Raspberry Ripple.

'Look back at your memories!' croons Google, enticingly, showing me a 15 year old picture of the smashed back window of the car which I took for insurance purposes.

We have always had great meals at Anima e Cuore. Last night’s was the best ever. Kentish Town is lucky to have such a great place.

The unfairly-named ā€˜stinking Iris’ (the flower doesn’t smell at all, though the cut stems are a bit meaty). Subtle, modest and beloved of bees, its seed pods burst open in winter to reveal masses of brilliant red berries. It’s regarded as a weed by many people; I love it.

I've just read a book so garlanded with praise for its exquisite prose/insight/poetry/breadth/imagery /wisdom/compassion etc etc that I feel like a Neanderthal called Tharg for finding it a bit on the dull side.
