Learning a language is like making a new friend. You love learning more about them, but you find them difficult at times. You experience new things, but you enjoy familiarity. You don't want to say something wrong, but you're glad you tried. You build a lifelong relationship.

Whether your school offers French, German or Spanish, seize that opportunity to discover how other people live & see the world. You don't have to be good at languages to be a good journalist, historian, politician, geographer, engineer or soldier, but it makes a huge difference.

Languages are all about communicating, having new experiences, enjoying life as others live (or lived) it, taking your world to a new level. Don't worry about getting things wrong or not being 'good at languages'. Your efforts will make a difference & will always be appreciated.

Every language is a gateway to new experiences, new people & new stories. From widely-spoken languages like Spanish, Chinese, French or Hindi to 'hidden gems' like Romansh, Estonian, Amharic or Maori, there's no 'best language to learn'. Any language is a step in a new direction.
