Today we had Stage 1 of the 🐝 Language Bee 🐝 with Bex Lingotot West Yorkshire 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸🇮🇹🏳️‍🌈 🐝 A huge well done to all the children who stood in front of their classes to participate!

The children and staff St. Michael's gave the legend, Mr Islam, an absolutely superb send off today. Not a dry eye in the school hall! So many amazing performances by the children. A privilege to work with him for the past 7 years…enjoy your retirement.

Today, my team made my vision come alive. Our Language Bee final was utterly immense, the children were superb and each school should be so proud of them. None of this would be possible without my team - who work tirelessly to evoke a love of languages across their schools.

The Mayor was delighted to officially open Panda Mamis Restaurant in Wakefield, visit Sandal Primary School and travel around the world at their European Day of Languages and onto the Mayor of Normanton's Last Night of the Proms.
