Matson’s 1Q 2023 profit dropped 60% QoQ and 91% YoY. Surprisingly volume for the China route increased 6% QoQ. Yet Linerlytica data of #Matson's capacity utilization has seen marked improvement since last December while the voyage frequency has also increased since end of March.

According to Linerlytica’s estimates, slow steaming has helped to remove up to 6% of the effective vessel supply globally but the impact has started to reverse as average vessel speeds have picked up again after reaching its slowest level in January 2023. linerlytica.com/cms/content/im…
