Sometimes, snow has an extra sparkle to it called "snow sparkle." The best type of winter precipitation for this champagne-like sparkle is dry snow because ice crystals usually remain separated. #LNEMA

We often associate blizzards with large amount of falling snow, but this isn't always the case. Blizzards can happen with the snow that's already fallen by it blowing around! #LNEMA

As the weather continues to fluctuate and it continues to snow, ice dams are more than likely forming on your roof. The best preventative measure is to remove snow from your roof using a roof rake. If you do have ice dams and they're causing damage, reach out to professionals.

Don't underestimate the power of water. It only takes 6 inches of fast-moving water to knock over and carry away an adult, and 12 inches to carry away a car. Turn around, don't drown. #LNEMA #FloodSafety

In the event of flooding, it's likely that areas will be barricaded due to water rising or concerns of flooding. Whether there's water visible or not, don't drive around the barricades. There may be hazards that you can't see. #LNEMA #FloodSafety

Most disasters are local emergencies, not national ones. Community preparedness and looking out for one another can make the difference during an emergency. Being prepared at the household and neighborhood level helps reduce injuries and speeds up recovery. #LNEMA #BePrepared

St. Patrick's Day is here! If you're choosing to celebrate, celebrate responsibly by not drinking and driving. Make sure you have a sober driver with you, or someone you can call, if you do go out! #LNEMA #StPatricksDay

Spring is here! Flooding from rapid snow and ice melt is common, so be aware of your surroundings. Water temperatures remain very cold despite warm days and still drop below freezing at night. This is perfect weather for maple syrup but brings a variety of hazards. #LNEMA
