Columbus Grove takes a 7-0 lead on Gavin Baxter’s 85-yard fumble recovery for a score. LCC looked like it might score on a methodical 13-play drive that led to fourth-and-2 from the 8.

LCC quarterback Brady Parker appeared surprised by the snap on the play, which bounced off Parker’s shoulder pads. Baxter scooped it up at the 15 and sprinted downfield untouched. 4:04 left in the first quarter.

Columbus Grove needed just three offensive plays to score after a three-and-out defensively. Receiver Trevon Baxter took a short pass on the left hash and turned it into a 42-yard touchdown play from QB Landon Best. With 46.7 seconds left in the first quarter, CG 14, LCC 0.

At the end of the first quarter of a Division VII, Region 26 regional semifinal, Columbus Grove leads Lima Central Catholic, 14-0.

Columbus Grove’s Trevon Baxter has his second touchdown pass of the night. Baxter leapt between double-coverage at the back of the end zone on a 30-yard catch from Landon Best. Columbus Grove leads LCC, 21-0, with 6:19 left in the half.

Delay at 6:19, with a fan on the LCC side requiring medical attention. Both teams took a knee and looked up at the stands in a classy move to remind you it’s about more than football.

Lima Central Catholic pulls within 21-6 with 4:04 left in the first half on Brady Parker’s 3-yard TD run over the right tackle. The T-birds had a nice 31-yard pass over the shoulder to Michael Quatman and a pinball-like run by Lausen Flores, bouncing in and out along right hash.

With 1:08 left in the first half, LCC calls time out. T-birds are at the Grove 40. They’d held Columbus Grove to a three-and-out to get the ball back and are on their sixth play of a drive now.

On the very next play, Lausen Flores fumbles the ball, and Grove’s Brady Basinger recovered it.

Time out LCC with 27.5 seconds left, as Grove facces third-and-15 from its 45 after Louie Knotts’ sack of Landon Best.

LCC leads the yardage, 166-111, but the Thunderbirds lost two fumbles. For LCC, Brady Parker completed 6 of 9 passes for 83 yards and has nine carries for 35 yards. Lausen Flores has six carries for 42 yards. Michael Quatman leads the receiving attack with two catches for 61 yds.

Grove’s Landon Best completed 8 of 8 passes for 107 yards and two TDs. Trevon Baxter has four catches for 78 yards with two TD catches.

Time out with 3:43 left in the third quarter. Both teams have had two possessions, but there’s no scoring.
