This article is actually laughable and beyond disrespectful to all athletes, not just elite athletes. Majority of the people in these positions couldn’t run for a bus. You’re broke as hell and that’s the sole reason. Millions & millions of loses year in, year out. It’s pathetic.

UK athletics has been repeating this same tune for decades now. If it were true, they’d be dominating by now… If it didn’t raise the standard 20 years ago…why would it now. It’s administrative nonsense to save $.

What research actually tells us: -Experience before you have reached the top helps. -Role models attract others to the event. -Artificially high standards by a governing body creates a sense of unfairness and hopelessness, which decreases motivation.

Not to mention the shortsightedness of the move. If you piss off all but your Olympic medalists... you just lost potential future revenue, a large part of your donor-class, coaches, and ambassadors for the sport. It's poor short-term leadership by bureaucrats who are clueless.
