Ok, so it's abundantly clear to us all by now that Twitter is a depraved cesspit of maladaptive human interaction. If we're honest with ourselves, we also know there's no way it'll change for the better. Given systemically better alternatives, why are people still here?

It'd be very cool if OIA Requests In NZ also posted in the Fediverse. They have a selection of NZ-based Fediverse instances they can use at no cost... mastodon.nz, moo.nz (might require permission), mastodon.nzoss.nz among others.

As Mike Masnick points out on in the Fediverse (mastodon.social/@mmasnick/1101…) this strange article newint.org/features/2023/… wonders about decentralised, non-profit alternative to centralised, profit-driven social media. He mentions Mastodon at the end, but implies it's not viable. Wut?

My Dad used to vote National, more recently has voted Labour, but I could have cried when he proudly told me that he's just party voted Green Party NZ for the first time. Incredible when I think back at the arguments we used to have 30 years ago. It's never too late. 💚💚🙏

There’s a very simple reason National have been releasing their policies so late in the campaign. They might look attractive at first glance, but any deeper analysis shows how bad they will be for NZ, but great for a few. Luxon doesn’t want you to “overthink it”. You know why.

Just listening to RNZ and Morning Report and fully encourage Wanaka to give the McDonalds Corporation the fingers. I think it'd be great if more (all) communities did. There're quite a few other corporations peddling 'food-like-substances' who're worthy of rejection.
