‘Twas the night of winter break when all through the school, many creatures were stirring but not a mouse. The temporary wall was taken down with care, in hopes that students would soon be there. 🎶☃️ We are in awe of this beautiful space and can’t wait for you all to see it!

Excitement is in the air today as teachers welcome students to the new NKC Schools Early Education Center! The Center opens today to special education students with more pre-K students arriving this fall. Join students as they get their first glimpse inside the EEC!

If you zoom in on the first photo, it’s as if the framed walls on first floor go on forever! In the next photo, you can see the layout of the new second floor bathrooms. On Monday, we start putting sheet rock on the walls on first floor. The second floor rooms are close behind.

When you’re all about progress, you don’t let the weather slow you down! It’s been one month since demolition for the new classrooms and most mechanical, electrical and plumbing materials are installed and sheetrock has started. Next up is paint and ceilings. #LearningInProgress

Starting off this warm(er) Monday morning with some progress pics! The locker rooms are nearly complete and awaiting locker arrival. Area E toilet partitions and remaining fixtures are being installed this week. Area B classrooms are prepped for paint. #LearningInProgress

My favorite transformation for this phase of construction is that this previous entrance to the building and the back wall of this new bathroom are in the same spot. Kudos to @gouldevansassoc and all involved for realizing the potential of this outdoor space! #LearningInProgress

Is this a before and after or after and before? The latter is correct! Our team has been hard at work getting the existing locker rooms demolished. New conference rooms, restrooms, and offices for the athletic staff are soon to be built in their place. #LearningInProgress

The athletic staff restrooms, offices, and conference rooms to the north of the new locker rooms are making great progress! MEP systems are in and sheetrock has started. The newly renovated classrooms at the east of the building are also in finish stages with carpet completed!

Have you wondered why the brick in all of the courtyards has turned white over the past few weeks? Well, we’re all prepped for the mural to start on Monday! The mural will be nearly 400’ long x 25’ tall and represent the values, character, history, and diversity of Lawrence High.

Over the past week, we’ve been installing the new lockers in the locker rooms and they look b-e-a-utiful! Integrated locks and benches coming soon. #LearningInProgress

Check out these progress shots on the mural from the mural artist Sike Style. They worked with the staff, students, and alumni to bring meaningful details into their ~16,000 sqft design and are knocking it out of the park! #LearningInProgress

With work being completed in over half of the building, it’s been quite busy out at LHS! The mural is approx. 40% complete, the west courtyard is taking shape with poured seat walls, the terrazzo treads are installed, and the gym floor is continuing demo. #LearningInProgress

You all get twice the update today! Here are a couple photos showing the new student success center and extended admin hallway. This space includes the IT desk, and offices for Counselors, Assistant Principals, and Social Workers. #LearningInProgress
