Screenwriting is patience. It's knowing you're going to write 20 drafts, not 2. It's knowing it's going to take a lot longer than you want it to. It's having multiple projects to work on, so you're never too heartbroken when one falls through.

Give yourself permission to finish a clunky first draft. You can't revise a draft that doesn't exist.

There is no single correct way to get something on the page. Slowly? Out of order? Rewritten 20 times? You do you. Whatever gets the words down is the right way.

As I've been talking to folks about it all night, now's a great time to point out that I'm a community college dropout from a military family who wrote reviews for free for 5 yrs while waiting tables & working at video stores. The deck is stacked against us, but you CAN do this.
