Some really inspiring stories at the #IWD2024 celebrations at South Riverside Community Development Centre today. Thank you Latifa for giving a wonderful talk about the confidence and skills you've gained from being involved in the Let's Interpret project. Happy #InternationalWomensDay to all of our members!

Yesterday our most recent group of trainee interpreters came to the end of their First Steps to Public Interpreting course. It was great to hear their positive feedback. We are very grateful to have been awarded a Volunteering Wales Main Grant, funded by Welsh Government & administered by WCVA | CGGC. This will allow us to create new volunteering opportunities for our trainee interpreters to put their language skills into practice. Exciting times!

Rydym yn ddiolchgar iawn ein bod wedi derbyn un o Brif Grantiau Gwirfoddoli Cymru sydd yn cael ei ariannu gan Llywodraeth Cymru ac yn cael ei weinyddu gan WCVA | CGGC. Mi fydd hyn yn galluogi ni i greu cyfleoedd newydd i'n dehonglwyr dan hyfforddiant i roi eu sgiliau iaith ar waith.

This week our members had another extremely informative session with Liana from Clear Voice interpreting services, finding out about the employment opportunities they have for freelance interpreters. Yesterday, existing members of Let's Interpret gave a warm welcome to our new group of trainee interpreters. Most of our training takes place online so it's always great to be able to meet in person. The Volunteering Wales Main Grant is enabling us to do this more often WCVA | CGGC

A great interpreting skills workshop today! Our members were able to meet fellow interpreters, test their skills through role play and learn from each other's experiences. We're very grateful to the Volunteering Wales Main Grant WCVA | CGGC for making this possible. South Riverside Community Development Centre

Great feedback about our recent interpreting skills workshop: "Thanks for organising... Zora is an excellent tutor. The role play was an eye opener and an extremely useful exercise to do". Having opportunities like this to consolidate skills and learning is so valuable WCVA | CGGC

Last week staff from CCAWS and Displaced People in Action attended our training session on best practice when working with interpreters. An extremely useful session, made possible by the Volunteering Wales main grant @WCVA. Get in touch if you'd be interested in attending it in the new year.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the ‘First steps in interpreting’ course with us. It was fantastic to see you receive your certificates. Well done everyone! Let's Interpret Modern Languages

Today we congratulated more members on completing their interpreting courses (as well as numerous hours of CPD training), then built on this learning through group discussions and roleplay. A great day all round! Thank you Learn Cardiff WCVA | CGGC South Riverside Community Development Centre
