Steve Hunt Let’s be part of the solution Tim on two wheels DVLA 2/2

'Why are there so few accidents whilst the driving test is taking place.'

I'll suggest a much more likely explanation - that for ONCE the driver has an interest in driving immaculately.

For too many, that lesson is forgotten within 30 minutes of passing their test.

Tim on two wheels It's a bit like climate change. The thought of having to change your behaviour or suffer an inconvenience you previously didn't have to, makes a lot of people instantly decide something is not possible!

Whereas the long term bigger picture is a huge gain.

Tim on two wheels It's frightening how many people just say it's the cost of driving, happy to accept thousands of deaths.
Or the attempt to play it all down by saying, yeah but our roads are the safest in the world, as if that makes it ok that people are still being killed on them.

CycleGaz™ kilo (legen/dary) 🏴‍☠️ We need fewer high energy vehicles in our society. If we are going to limit ebike speed but not the vehicles with the highest mass and energy then we will never achieve

Five, Four, Five!

These are the ages of three of the children killed in motor incidents over the weekend.

We need to act now to halt the endemic killing of our children. If this was anything but motor vehicles we would have spent millions to fix it.

We are all complicit.

Shez I now take the center-right of the lane when I haven't a reasonable bike lane. In my experience, if I give the driver room to pass in my lane, they won't leave any margin for error. I have to force them to pass me as if I was farm equipment.

Real Gaz on a proper bike: [email protected] So a better solution would be that an approved installer puts in a row of chargers - and they are charged to your own electricity tariff. There is no reason why they have to be physically linked to your home but could be virtually tied to homeowners, satisfying possessiveness.

Right I am not sure I have mentioned enough that I was on BBC1’s this morning, so here I am talking about why LTNs are popular and why we can’t all drive private cars all the time if we want people to get around.

Bella Chu A key part of this was the rise of the 'road safety' industry, creating false equivalence between the mistakes of people walking/cycling and those using potentially far more dangerous-to-others equipment.

Let's qualify the mode that imposes the greatest cost on society. Instead of referring to right-sized transit options as 'micromobility' let's draw attention to the attributes of cars, trucks, and SUVs by normalizing 'oversized-mobility' or 'potentially-lethal-mobility'

Let's just unpick this. A strip of tarmac is not dangerous. The danger comes from the behaviour of those who use it. Ceding the carriageway for the exclusive use of motor vehicles is *not* progressive: it's a surrender to the belief that drivers can never be civilised.
