Lots of the changes needed to save wildlife are hard, cutting less grass in our public spaces is not hard! The neat and tidy brigade have had their day.

Currently playing verge detective to determine who manages it. Already emailed local authority and the EA about other patches. Boy are they going to feel my polite wrath.

Wildlife trusts across the country have lost huge sums of money this year. Many of the reserves they manage have been a saviour through lock down. They helped you when you needed them, now they need you. If you can join today!

Honestly, if everyone as well as tweeting outrage wrote to their councillor this would stop in a flash. Sorry to be blunt but if you care about this and haven't told you elected representative you care, you aren't doing all you can.

Despite thinking on the whole you do a good job, I voted green, you have taken no action on environmental emergency, still wedkilling around trees, no reduced mowing, no strategy for nature. I hope this is addresses in the upcoming Preston green space strategy, in not hopeful..

This is great, I think if the heritage fund could suggest things like reduced mowing and reduced weedkiller use in the application process, that would be a really useful prompt for local authorities

#COP26 has begun. We cannot solve the climate emergency without also tackling the nature crisis. We can create a world where people and wildlife thrive alongside one another. We need to be bold, we need to take decisive action, and we need to work together. #WilderFuture

One of the best things you could do for wildlife is find a patch in your area and speak to your local councillor about reducing the mowing...then ask again...and again....

I would say, at a local level especially, the starting point is to contact your local elected councillor. If the hundreds of thousands who go on protests also sent letters to their councillors, we'd see real change. Sadly some are more interested in a day out with placards.
