Official government figures have shown the first signs that ministers have been engaged in a “perverse” programme to secretly restrict grants made by the Access to Work disability employment scheme. #AccessToWork #DWP disabilitynewsservice.com/government-fig…

It will bewilder & disappoint Labour MPs & members the Chancellor is attacking disabled people again. Nothing seems to have been learnt from the debacle over the disability cuts fiasco. Motability was a great Labour achievement by PM Jim Callaghan in 1978. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

Chancellor jumps on the Motability bandwagon, eyeing removing the VAT and IPT exemptions which cost £1bn a year, reports Times bit.ly/470JEA8 that would mean disabled people had to try to find more upfront. Also considering removing posh brands - back to the 1960s?

Labour are lost. Happy to punch down. Labour have never read or understood the social model of disability. If they read it they would understand why schemes like this are required.. but deliberate ignorance means convenient ableist policy. Wealth tax? No, crush the disabled.

Monthly public service announcements for the perpetually ignorant: You don't need to have a motability car to have a blue badge. Many people do not fit your mould of what you think 'disabled' should look like. You can't always see pain and disability. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS

Oh & to all the Motability haters, my wheelchair cost £6500 & my power attachment cost £6500. How much government input in that amount? £0. But hey make me pay VAT on that amount too, just so I can move around.

Leon Carter Nigel Travis Waitrose & Partners Exactly, there is space in society for everyone. Having a job gives people confidence, a sense of purpose! We all bring different qualities to our roles too which is also why it's important to include people with disabilities in the workplace. I loathe discrimination.

Since Rachel Reeve's mini announcement, the hatred towards disabled people has ramped up and intensified over the weekend. Even higher levels of hatred towards the disabled & vulnerable is palpable across social media. This is the Govt manufacturing consent. It's sickening.
