Last night we held a joint survey for Nathusius pipistrelles for Leics Bat Group with the help of Derbyshire Bat Group Notts Bat Group and Lincolnshire Bat Group. 6 target species were caught and ringed under the national project license Bat Conservation Trust #bats #britishwildlife #longnights

𝟏𝟰𝟲𝟮‼️ The newest bat species count is in at 1,462 species of the order Chiroptera! Bats are incredibly diverse and make up 20% of all mammal species. Due to ever-evolving discoveries in science and the elusive nature of bats, new species are being classified every year.
