Some words from Annabel, one of our Trustees with first hand refugee experience - she'll tell you about the work we do, why it's valuable, and why you should support us by making a donation through the Big Give here: - donate.thebiggive.org.uk/campaign/a0569… #doubletheimpact

This clip of Gary Lineker from 2021 feels relevant to where we are now. He outlines his interest in 'refugee issues', how he considers himself a freelancer, how Tim Davie's never called to say 'you can't tweet that' - and that he doesn't think 'they could do that anyway'.

This is what strength looks like. After fleeing Afghanistan, these four are now in living in Chester & attend a School of Sanctuary. They just wrote poems to raise awareness about Afghanistan, womens rights & their new lives here in the UK. You'll want to read them....

This poem is about how the girls want to be recognised, not simply as refugees but with potential, needs & dreams as any young girl might. They read these poems in the local cathedral, joined by their mums. They read in English and their mums read in Farsi....

Q: How do you trick the population into believing that asylum seekers are becoming a bigger and bigger issue? A: Stop processing asylum applications. Cynical? That's exactly what the Tories did. The % of asylum applications completed within 6 months fell from 80%+ to ~10%.

The Home Office calls asylum seekers criminals one minute, heroes the next. It’s cynical and cruel theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

I profoundly disagree with the Home Secretary's speech about asylum and multiculturalism, her characterisation of Leicester, and of those seeking refuge in the UK. I am immensely proud to be Bishop of this diverse, creative and vibrant city.
