“As go the spirituality and the evangelistic spirit of the ministry, so will go the churches in this matter. The preacher is the main fire builder in his church. Holy fire will spread as spiritual combustibles are brought in touch with it.” *Recruits for World Conquests* (1914)

“A new convert... Great undertakings should be put before him to challenge his faith, gifts and powers of soul. You can never grow a great Christian character on little tasks.” *With Christ After the Lost* (1919)

“The churches are to embody and feed and send forth the passion of evangelism and keep the soul-fires burning in the hearts of the saved, thus preserving and sending forth the mighty dynamic of Heaven for the regeneration of a lost world.” - Christ’s Militant Kingdom (1924)

“If your place is not great enough to suit you, make it so. The minister who is unable to make a place great is too weak to hold a great one.” – L. R. Scarborough, “With Christ, After the Lost,” 79. #ChristianLeadership #Service

Noteworthy with the BFM25 was the inclusion of an article on “co-operation,” a first for Baptist confessions of faith and likely resulting from the influence of Southwestern Seminary 2nd president, L. R. Scarborough, who had chaired the $75M Campaign and served on the original Cooperative Program committee.

“There must be a strangeness of a heavenly breath and presence, the yearning of an unearthly compassion, the cry of a burdened importunity… if we are to bring this world to God.” *Recruits for World Conquest* (1914)

“The Word of God is the sword of the divine Spirit and if we seek to blind the edge of His sword we imperil the effectiveness of this instrument of power. Whole-hearted acceptance of the Word of God is a condition of Pentecosts in the soul.” - *Endued to Win* (1922)

“Every one of us must make a holy covenant to do his dead level best in the highest possible standards and claims of New Testament cooperation, sacrificial liberality and prayerful, aggressive, co-operant, constructive kingdom-building evangelism.” 1925 Cons.Comm. Annual Report

“The preacher of the gospel is the human pivot in the kingdom of God, and the primal earthly factor in the reign of righteousness… [He] is charged with a sacred debtorship to all men… a holy trusteeship.” - A Modern School of the Prophets (1939)

“The most gigantic undertaking God has laid out for Christian men is to lead lost souls to Jesus Christ. The salvation of the world cost God more, and requires more from man, than any other movement in human or divine history.” —L. R. Scarborough #PointToPonder #Evangelism
