This is great news and a great relief. The ball is in the government's court. They know what nurses and their patients deserve, and that we are ready to fight for both. It took too long and too much to get them to the table, I hope they come in good faith.

Seems a bit late in the day, I hope this is a genuine attempt to find a resolution. RCN strikes called off weeks ago but all we know so far is the government suggests a 3.5% pay rise. That only demonstrates further this government's failure to listen to our concerns.

Every other pay offer for recently striking workers is significantly higher than that Steve Barclay is offering The RCN nurses and other health workers. Why is this? It can only be because he and the government believe we are worth less or will fight less. Wrong. Wrong. Reject.

The weak response to the NHS pay offer from The RCN does not represent the brave, strong nursing colleagues I work with. Accepting it will leave us weaker, devalued and less able to provide safe care. VOTE REJECT.

But we will look like fools, or at least conform to the government's view of nurses as weak and worthless, if we accept. We are not weak, we are worth more. Our profession, our labour, our pay, our right to fight for more. We just need a union prepared to fight with us. REJECT.

You took strike action in your hundreds of thousands. You forced the government into weeks of intense negotiations. You now have a new pay offer. You decide what happens next Vote now. 🔗 rcn.org.uk/EnglandConsult…

2 points Steve Barclay, how can a real terms pay cut be considered fair, and this WILL have an ongoing impact on frontline services and patient safety as more nurses leave the profession in the face of the further devaluation and belittling this offer demonstrates.

I am an RCN nurse, my wife a SOR radiographer, over 60 years of NHS experience between us. We both voted to reject this offer. Because it is neither fair nor reasonable. Please don't try and speak on my behalf.

Ministers must explain why more than a million NHS workers have got the lowest percentage pay rise amongst public sectors this year. Over 100,000 nursing staff voted to continue strike action just days ago - this will only add to that number. rcn.org.uk/magazines/News…

No surprise the 2 public sector groups with the worst pay deals are nurses who can't afford to strike and armed forces who aren't allowed to. Those words of praise and gratitude are as empty as the tories are corrupt and self serving.

Well said. I am sure I speak for my nursing colleagues in saying we fully support our medical colleagues in theses actions. I only hope you fare better than we nurses have. The result of our actions is a further pay cut and the lowest pay offer of all public sector workers.

Frailty and heart failure. So important to holistically care for the this patient group - increased frailty in a heart failure patients means more admissions and increased mortality!
