Last week our team found one of our favorite turtles - Juno! Juno was tagged TWENTY years ago by FLI's very own Chris Johnson while she nested on Juno Beach. She has been seen over 30 times in her 20-year history. She's looking great and we were so happy to see her!

It was a beautiful night on the beach with a full #Supermoon and lots of #leatherback turtles. This beautiful new un-tagged turtle was found along the Hutchinson Island section of our study area. #EndangeredSpecies

Our study primarily involves leatherback sea turtles at Martin County in Florida, but our team loves encountering hundreds of Loggerhead turtles each night. Last season there were over 11,000 #loggerhead nests along our study area! #SeaTurtleWeek

Did you know that we have identified more than 900 individual leatherback turtles nesting on our local beaches? Each year beginning in March, our volunteers patrol the beaches at our study site in Martin County Florida looking for endangered leatherback turtles. #SeaTurtleWeek
