LSS observes the 159th anniversary of freedom. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Texas to deliver news of the Emancipation Proclamation, which President Abraham Lincoln had issued two and a half years earlier. Juneteenth marks the end of legal slavery in the USA.

September 11 is a difficult day for all and LSS is no exception. We opened the day before 9/11. LSS had one floor in a small building on W. 29th St., 32 students and a small staff. Our 2nd day was the beginning of our nurturing community, and it continues today-thank you!
