This rabbit hole began with researching a way to maintain a solvent-free studio for oil painting. Over the summer I experimented with what I could do with basic chalk. My curiosity was piqued and now I’ve got my hands on an array of white powders from different minerals.

This is my first go at making oil paint. It’s Verona Green Earth. Mulling paint to achieve the smoothness and consistency that felt good to me was extremely satisfying. This inorganic natural pigment is complex and lively. Mmmmmm. So yummy!
