what do y’all use to make conceptual figures if you 1. can’t afford illustrator and 2. think powerpoint is the wrong tool for making figures?

One thing I don’t quite understand about the PhD stipend is that in my fifth year, now highly trained and productive, I’m still making about the same as I was fresh out of undergrad.

I was overly ambitious in thinking I could do all of plant anatomy in one lecture. Flowers alone have already taken up the whole slot, and I haven't even made slides for evolution of floral anatomy/morphology yet😂

My begrudging acceptance of field work has made me realize that while I hate doing field work I loooove thinking about it (conceptually)
