New analysis shows that lowering speeds on our roads is saving lives. Every death on our roads is one too many. Slower speeds not only protect the most vulnerable, but help create safer streets. We’ll continue working to eliminate death & serious injury on the transport network.

🗺️ Think a low traffic West End is a crazy idea? The rest of Europe doesn't seem to think so... Take Paris and Ghent, two cites that have started to embrace low traffic living! Want London to join them? Email Sadiq and let him know 📨

New research shows LTNs are making our streets safer. 10yrs of data in & around 113 London LTNs shows: 💚37% less deaths & serious injuries 💚No negative safety impact on surrounding roads 📉that's 600 fewer injuries (100 fewer deaths & serious injury) theguardian.com/world/2025/jul…

Good to see proposals coming forward at roughly the same time Oxford Street and a much more pedestrian friendly Regent St area. Really need to link these up to other schemes for a car-lite West End. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Often overlooked is importance of reducing traffic to reduce road casualties. NYC Congestion Pricing sees "number of cars entering the pricing zone down by 11%" and "traffic injuries down 15%". London needs more policies to reduce car use across the city. ny1.com/nyc/all-boroug…

Great to see masterplan proposals from Harley Street BID to make the amazing streets in that area much more pedestrian friendly. Too much traffic, hard-to-cross-streets and tricky junctions make walking there much less enjoyable than it should be. See: harleystreetbid.com

If you plan to respond to TfL Congestion Charge proposals (consultation ends 4th Aug), have a look at our blog. Some good things in there from TfL but could go way further to make Central London safer and have a fairer balance between people & vehicles. londonlivingstreets.com/2025/07/11/tfl…

Interesting/informative interview with Will Norman in Zag Daily about Vision Zero in London. Runs through the successes...20mph limits and the challenges...inc. more larger heavier vehicles/SUVs. Good on lessons/ideas from other global cities. zagdaily.com/featured/will-…

Vision Zero plans need to include measures to reduce car use. Delivering the Safe System on its own is not enough; cities also need to reduce driving. The latest AVZ briefing highlights recent research showing that when car use falls casualties fall too. actionvisionzero.org/2025/07/14/avz…

Hackney has published plans for the long-awaited Dalston LTN. The scheme would remove through traffic between the A10 and Amhurst Road — and in particular create a low-traffic cycle route between Cycleway 1 and Lea Bridge Road (a major missing link) consultation.hackney.gov.uk/streetscene/da…

Brilliant to be part of this coalition of Lambeth children asking the council to take action to reduce the number of SUVs on our streets. 75% of primary pupils in London walk or cycle to school and giant SUVs are a growing threat to their safety. bit.ly/4kJ4nM8
