The #talibanker Farage wants to spend £270 deporting refugees to Afghanistan, a county that bans girls from school. That money could fund nearly 8000 special school places. Farage is more interested in targeting refugees than helping British school kids.

Given the poor consultation around the schools bill, it is disappointing to see Bridget Philipson not being replaced as the education secretary.

We’ve got a first class education system in England. Over the past 15 years reading and numeracy have shot up. Yet Reform do down the education system whilst running their councils into the ground. Disgraceful.

The tone taken the the Secretary of State is that we must do more with less. For a year and half into being SoS she’s still communicating like she’s in opposition without a clue for what she wants to achieve. In that context maybe going for a promotion isn’t the brightest idea.

The Times’ get children reading campaign is a great idea.

I disagree. Trusts should absolutely be graded. There are some high performers out there as well as some trusts who are wasting millions in taxpayer money whilst delivering poor outcomes. Grading is a way to challenge that.
