We met Farmer Desiree this morning, and now it's time to introduce our next #localfarmer: Farmer Randy, from Peyton Farm Services, has been in the business for 40 years! He enjoys planting and harvesting crops, raising cattle, and offering farm services, such as building fences.

Our focus today is on Farmer Kent at ORAC farms! Farmer Kent grows organic fruits like honeyberries, elderberries, and heirloom apples. Honeyberry is a unique fruit that is said to taste like a combination of many berries and is 4-5x richer in flavor than a blueberry!

We get to celebrate a second #localfarmer today - Farmer Scott from Prime Hydroponic at Blue Valley Farms! He uses special farming methods to grow his lettuce and microgreens that minimize environmental impact while still making them extra flavorful and crispy!

Today, we are focusing on Farmers Greg and Sue with Brookfield Dairy Farm! 🐮🥛🧈 Brookfield Dairy Farms makes milk, cream, and butter with 35 prize-winning dairy cows. They hope to see you soon at their yummy ice cream trailer!

Let’s spice things up this morning with a little garlic from Farmer Pete at Snickers Run Garlic Farm! 🧄 Farmer Pete harvested over 40,000 garlic bulbs this year. He loves antique tractors 🚜and his rescue cows 🐮that both help him to take care of his fields!

Time to turn our spotlight onto Farmer Ava from Rose Hill Farm, which produces beef and hay! Farmer Ava is a part of 4-H, which is an organization that teaches youth about crops and farming. She likes helping her grandfather give hay and feed to the cattle!

It's been an exciting week honoring our amazing #localfarmers! Last, but certainly not least, is Farmer Sam from Cerritos Farms! Farmer Sam has been a farmer for 36 years and grows everything from Salvadorian red beans 🫘 and habaneros 🌶️ to juicy tomatoes 🍅and watermelon 🍉!

We had a blast Eagle Ridge Middle today! Our dietetic intern, Josie, served up a delicious triple berry sheet pan pancake sampling at breakfast – it was a hit! Plus, our executive chef and registered dietitian got great insights from a student focus group.

This past Saturday, Chef Erik joined the annual LCPS Middle School FACS Cake Wars competition! This year’s sweet theme? Candy Shop! After sampling some truly impressive creations, Chef Erik had the honor of presenting the award to the talented team from Belmont Ridge Middle 🏆🎂🍭
