🚨New preprint🚨 on laminar CBV and BOLD responses across time and space in human S1 at 7T. We investigated digit-representations across layers and observed indications of a potential center-surround excitation-inhibition architecture that changes across the cortical landscape.

Here is a link to talk I recently gave on layer fMRI. I discuss some of the potential pitfalls of layer fMRI, the type of inferences one can make, and how it might help us to understand things like hallucinations. Hope it is of interest to some of you! youtu.be/gQl8ZcQevdM?si…

New layer-fMRI manuscript focusing on Fuzzy Ripple artifacts. Arguably the biggest challenge in layer-fMRI acquisition. Every layer-fMRI dataset has them, they limit resolution and TR, and we shows how to mitigate them. doi.org/10.1101/2024.0… #Layer_fMRI_Artifact_of_the_Week

You feel something is physically moving during a bistable illusion. While your brain can trick your eyes 👀, it cannot trick our scanner🧲 Our 7T fMRI results show a distinct feedback modulation between V1 & hMT+ in this illusion👇 Faruk Gulban layerfMRI Judith Peters Rainer Goebel

Happy to see that this work is now out in Communications Biology! nature.com/articles/s4200… We show that the layers of the PFC have distinct laminar activation profiles to working memory load and also provide evidence that this code is dynamic.
