Each year, Wilfrid Laurier University’s Financial Resources team organizes a Salvation Army toy drive in memory of our colleague Sarah Wilkinson. Thank you to all who donated this year! Thursday is the last day to donate. There are donation bins in Waterloo, Brantford and Kitchener.

This week, Wilfrid Laurier University faculty and staff gathered in Waterloo, Kitchener and Brantford for our holiday hot chocolate social. It was great to catch up with colleagues ahead of the holiday season.

As we approach the winter break, I am grateful for our community -- faculty, contract teaching faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and many partners. Thank you for all that you do to make Wilfrid Laurier University a place of inspiration, growth, and excellence.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone in the Wilfrid Laurier University community had the chance to rest and spend time with loved ones. Over the holidays, Keltie, Fergus and I enjoyed our long walks through Waterloo.

Last week, I was honoured to host the Grand Opening of Wilfrid Laurier University's newest research facility in Yellowknife. I am incredibly excited to witness the ongoing contributions this centre will make to science in the Northwest Territories.

Thank you Dr. Jillian Horton for joining us at Laurier last fall for this insightful talk. The recording of that evening is now available on CBC Ideas: cbc.ca/radio/ideas/ji…

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of touring the new Laurier Music Savvas Chamberlain Music Building with dean @cjt8. The building looks incredible and is almost ready for occupancy. I look forward to seeing the Laurier and wider KW community make use of this transformed space.

On February 14, Wilfrid Laurier University staff and faculty departments will be displaying red dresses around our campuses to honour the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Canada. I encourage everyone to engage in learning and reflection in support of this important initiative.
