Writing is amazing because last week I was writing a teenage sleuth determined to solve a murder no-one else believed happened & this week I'm coming up with enchanted mobility aids in a magic version of London.

Happy #WorldBookDay everyone! The books we love when we're young are the ones that make us readers, and change our lives FOREVER. So whatever else you do, please never stop reading books with kids, and encouraging them to read. There is nothing more important! #WorldBookDay2025

World Book Day 2025 was an absolute dream! Seeing kids dressed up as characters I’ve created is an honour I will never get over—truly magical. Here’s my favourite WBD costume so far! 🎭📚✨

I try and keep this account book-focussed but I can't let it go by without comment.👩🏻‍🦽 Being disabled is hard enough without having to prove to strangers, again and again and again, that you're ill enough to be entitled to just some basic level of human dignity.

The terrible, no good, definitely awful draft 1 of my middle grade fantasy is done! I’ve been thinking about this story for the best part of a year + it’s the fastest project I’ve ever written. Now to not think about it for a few days!

This reminds me of all the doctors I saw over the years who told me I was too young to be sick even though it eventually turned out I had a genetic collagen defect (aka since birth) and endometriosis since I was a tween. Disabled young people exist??

Saw this beauty and it had the same name as a very important place in my latest story so I decided buying it was ✨FATE✨ (It is now the worldbuilding/lore journal + full of magic, wyverns, post pegasuses (my particular fav), salamanders and an enchanted walking stick!)

Children's books are seldom taken seriously by adults, yet they're the books that make us readers in the first place. They shape us at the deepest levels, and they stay with us forever. So I think children's books are really THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOKS OF ALL!
