This All Our Families Study study, led by Dr. Nicole Racine Erin Hetherington, PhD w Brae Anne McArthur shows that in May-July of 2020, rates of depression in mothers of 9.5 yr olds increased by 16% from 2017-19 (when their children were 8). Rates of anxiety, meanwhile, increased by 13%. (2/6)

It is clear from the #SRCD2021 #SRCD21 sessions I attended that parents are struggling. Clear evidence of high levels of stress, burnout, depression, and anxiety. Longitudinal studies show increases from pre-pandemic. So, what is going to be done? What actions can we take?

Resiliency is often misunderstood. Being resilient doesn't mean you never fall apart; it means you continue to put one foot in front of the other. Also, the most resilient child on the planet won't thrive in the absence of needed support, such as counseling, food or safe housing.

Can there be a conference or something where people get together to agree on definitions for and relations among self-regulation, self-control, and executive functions? Following these literatures is a never-ending game of jingle-jangle opacity.
