Today I wanted to talk through something with a colleague so I walked to their desk instead of slacking them and it was *exhilerating*.

Tonight we were playing “store” with spare change and my kid tapped each coin like you would a card on a terminal. I realized she’s probably never seen a cash register actually open in her life. 💵💳

Well, we made it 2 years without contracting covid and OF COURSE we get it the week my parents are coming to visit, following two straight weeks of plumbing and flooding issue in our house and on the heels of a stomach virus. Oh life, you are a roller coaster 🎢

Our Covid Encanto Count is currently at 5.

We are caught in a serious cycle of sickness after sickness over here and while I love the cuddles, what I would love about 100x more is the ability to get in a groove and find balance without needing to constantly pivot due illness. Related: I have also reached my Encanto limit.

You know the predictive text at the bottom of Gmail? I accidentally (and unknowingly) just said “yes, please cancel” to my insurance renewal. Thank goodness for a solid relationship with the broker who called to double check it was accurate. LOL

Last weekend marked one year since Ruby’s last chemotherapy treatment. Life’s been wild lately but she’s living it to the fullest. In her words, she loves: “the colour orange and school and corn and chocolate and Encanto and also soccer but not shin pads” #ChildhoodCancer

The juxtaposition of being a working parent is wild. Spent all day surrounded by brilliant colleagues and leaders, having meaningful conversations, solving complex problems, and within 20 minutes of leaving the office I’m dealing with meltdowns about snacks and pyjamas pants.

What an absolutely crazy day in Alberta.

Started that period by finding crayon drawn all over the couch, a defiant child refusing sleep and down 2 goals. Ended the period with a sleeping child, miraculously got the crayon out and a somehow the game is tied 4-4. 🤯

I’ve been lucky in my career to meet some pretty well-known people but this tops the list. Anyone that talks about the duality of pain and joy is my kind of people. Last week was magic (and a ton of hard work) but having live events back IRL fills my soul.

Who else is working from home today and unable to concentrate due to tying down flying objects and constantly checking their downspouts?! 🙋🏻‍♀️ #abstorm

This afternoon out in the garden my kid saw a mosquito biting my arm and very excitedly said “look mummy!!!! It’s pollinating you!!” 😂😂😂

Knee surgery #4, recovery day #7. The amount of time spent watching shows on the couch has made me realize it’s time to cancel cable - everything seems to be available on a streaming service. But I’m out of touch. Do I get a Roku? Is Apple TV still good? What are my options?
