Misconception: Just by listening and reading you'll never learn low frequency vocab. Reality: The vocab in any TV show, book, etc is VERY FAR from the average in the language, because they are about SPECIFIC topics/situations, by SPECIFIC authors. You'll get plenty of new words.

Native speakers will almost never correct your speaking if your errors didn't impede communication. So get the input you need and don't rely on corrections!

"How do I say X in Spanish?" is usually the wrong question to ask. Spanish is not a translation of English, and meaning is very often not expressed the same way. Rather than learning Spanish as [thought->English->Spanish], learn it for what it is, [thought->Spanish].

Don't ask people what a word means. If you don't understand it it's because you're not ready or haven't found it in the right context yet. Someone else's answer is a stopgap for knowledge, not real understanding.

You are literally only learning when you are taking in input. Speak? Write? Say what? Write what? Is this witchcraft? Are you some kind of witch-a$$ motherlover? From what magic Doraemon pocket are you supposed to pull out stuff to say and write?
