Like Mansa Musa, the journey of Ethiopian envoys to Venice in 1402 was a landmark event in Africa's pre-Atlantic international relations that has been misinterpreted as a quest for "better technology" and "recognition" @krebsverena has convincingly argued for why this is false

A #Roman mosaic emerges from below the ground during excavations in Stari Grad (Hvar, Croatia). The mosaic is about 1800-1900 years old, & shows that you never know what treasures might be hidden just below your feet! (Photo: Vilma Matulić) #MosaicMonday #Archaeology
