Now available on Sportsmith Premium, "Sprint technique assessment for hamstring injury risk" featuring Johan Lahti, PhD Johan Lahti raises a key question: Should we assess sprint technique under fatigue when considering hamstring injury risk? His research shows that movement

A truly terrific read by Greg Nuckols that not only takes a deep dive into the research about the relationship between RT volume and hypertrophy, but more importantly about how to take an evidence-based approach to fitness prescription strongerbyscience.com/volume/

Nordic hamstring exercise training induces non-uniform adaptations in the hamstring muscles. ST and BFsh showed the largest increases in volume and fibre length. Fibre length gains reversed after 3 weeks detraining, but hypertrophy mostly remained. doi.org/10.1016/j.jshs…

🤩I find it fasciating that muscles of the same group respond differently to increasing resistance and/or speed in sprinting. 📰More in the final version of our paper published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise: lnkd.in/dHjtyAZB 👏FULGUR team, thx to ANR 🇫🇷

Why low-intensity endurance training for athletes? Dr. Matomäki answers this question in a new perspective article European Journal of Applied Physiology, presenting seven possible hypotheses on why endurance athletes should engage in excess amount of low-intensity training. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

The Ken Clark, PhD contact length ratio education is very useful if you know how to interpret the data. My main issue is the ability to drill down, as it's very labor-intensive and subject to seasonal changes and differences in practice versus meets. Only use validated data!

New by Li (no other authors!) “Optimizing sprint performance: a comparative analysis of strength training methodologies”. Very nice with interventions among sprinters but can researchers PLS add Vmax testing (would have sufficed with 20-30 m split!) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40600727/

Very interesting review by Anthony Blazevich et al on the current evidence about sarcomerogenesis and its application to ecologically valid exercise protocols. Still much we don't know and reason to be cautious when drawing conclusions on the topic 💪 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Increasing serial sarcomere number (SSN) and thus fascicle length is highly sought after. Eccentric exercise (ECC) is often thought to be the best stimulus. But is this true? In our review, we pore over 150+ years of data to find out if we’re right tinyurl.com/yc5cjvef 🧵1/14

Flywheel training. Still slighlty confused when the stimulus is appropriate for the targetted outcome. For example, 1. if I have a maximal strength phase, how much interia is enough? As technically, you will still be able to move very high inertias, but is there some point of

The amount of teams/coaches still making college athletes wake up at 6 am (or earlier) to train, lift, & practice is 🤯🤯🤯. The data are incredibly clear here. Bad idea.
